The West Interlake Watershed Conservation District (WIWCD) will pay all or a portion of the seed costs
for forages sown on erosion-prone, previously flooded or marginal land. The types and varieties of seed will be determined by
the landowner.

To assist landowners in the protection of groundwater supply, hazard elimination from open wells to humans and livestock, and the promotion of the importance of water quality within the West Interlake Watershed Conservation District (WIWCD).
One application per registered landowner per year, dependant on Board approval.
An application must be submitted for each abandoned well. The WIWCD will provide assistance up to $1,000.00 per well. Completed applications must be returned to the WIWCD office.

To assist landowners in the protection and restoration of riparian areas along waterways, in an effort to reduce sediments and nutrients entering our water, reduce stream bank erosion, enhance fish and wildlife habitat, improve herd health and create a safe environment for livestock.
One application per registered landowner per year, dependant on Board approval.
An application must be submitted for each abandoned well. The WIWCD will pay 100% of the cost of the project excluding the installation of the fence, that is the landowner’s responsibility. Completed applications must be returned to the WIWCD office.

The WIWCD strives to provide our watershed residents and the general public with quality education pieces regarding conservation and the programs the WIWCD provides. We are committed to educational awareness for school age youth through various education components.
The WIWCD believes in the importance of educating the next generation of residents and landowners and will work with cooperating organizations and District schools to assist in implementing environmental education into the curriculum. Schools within the District will be eligible for up to $500 per school per year.
Contact the WIWCD office with your environmental education ideas (i.e. in-class presentations, sponsorships, field trips, etc.) early in the year in order to ensure that plans are made for your school to be involved.

The Low Flow Toilet Rebate Program consists of a $50 rebate off the purchase of Low Flow Toilets (also called low flush toilets, dual flush toilets or two-button toilets).
- Toilets must use 6-litres or less of water per flush. Dual flush toilets with a 3 litre and 6 litre flush are preferred.
- Limit of one toilet per household for 2011-2012 year.
- A landowner must fill out an application and receive approval from the West Interlake Watershed Conservation District prior to purchasing the low flow toilet. Once approved for the program, the landowner will receive a coupon for the $50.00 rebate.
- Toilets must be purchased from an approved local retail store that is located within the West Interlake Watershed Conservation District. A list of approved retail stores is below.
- Applications will be assessed on a first-come first-serve basis until program funding runs out.
